Every so often I’m lucky enough to get the chance of photographing a surprise proposal. Photographing a proposal is very unique and different than the usual engagement session or wedding. There’s a another level of excitement and anxiousness leading up to the big moment, and in-depth amount of planning is involved to make sure the proposal is captured perfectly. When Thomas reached out to me with his plans of proposing to his then-girlfriend, Anna, I was so excited to dive in and help him plan the special moment. The location of choice would be one of the footbridges on the Esplanade, which is such a beautiful location, and it so happens to be that one of the footbridges has a fantastic backdrop of saturated yellows & greens of the trees bordering Storrow Drive. The day came and a specific walking path was planned that Anna & Thomas would take before finally landing on the bridge where he would pop the question. Thomas's original plan was to tell Anna they were going out to a networking dinner, but would walk around and explore the Esplanade first before heading there. Safe to say Anna was quite surprised when Thomas got on one knee on that footbridge. The surprises weren’t over for Anna as her family had been watching on in the distance and surprised her moments after saying yes. The three of us managed to sneak away for a bit to explore the Esplanade and take some of the very first photos of Anna & Thomas as engaged couple. Let’s all give a huge congrats to these two, wishing the best for their wedding & beyond!
